Deputy Speaker Jim WilsonJim Wilson is the Member of Provincial Parliament for Simcoe-Grey, a Deputy Speaker of the Ontario Legislature and First Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Whole House while also serving as Progressive Conservative Critic for Colleges and Universities and Research and Innovation.  He is a also a member of the Standing Committee on Government Agencies.

Jim was first elected to the Ontario Legislature in September 1990 as the member for Simcoe West. Between 1990 and 1995, while in Opposition, Jim became well-known for his work as the P.C. Health Critic where he fought to expand dialysis treatment across the province and end fraud in Ontario's health card system.

Upon election of the Progressive Conservative government in 1995, Jim was appointed Minister of Health, where he was responsible for a $20-billion budget and one of the largest health insurance plans in North America. He also oversaw the restructuring of Ontario's hospitals and established vastly expanded community-based health services.

In 1997, Jim was appointed as the first Minister of Energy, Science and Technology, where he was responsible for keeping the province on the leading edge of technological and scientific advancement, with record investments in research and innovation.

In 2002, Jim was named Minister of Northern Development and Mines, a portfolio concerned with Ontario's rich natural resource economy, while also serving as Chairman of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation. Later that year, Jim was given additional responsibilities when he was sworn-in as Ontario's Minister of Environment.

Jim was re-elected in October 2007 for his fifth term as the member for Simcoe-Grey. He was raised in Alliston and resides in Wasaga Beach.
