McGuinty’s Failure to Plan Leaves College Applicants Out in the Cold
(February 1, 2010) Today is the application deadline for Ontario colleges and Dalton McGuinty’s lack of a credible economic plan or plan to deal with a possible strike by college instructors risks leaving thousands of Ontario students stranded without solid job or education opportunities.
(Queen's Park Report - January 27, 2010) The advent of a New Year is typically a time when people start to rein in spending and adhere to a strict budget after an often expensive Christmas season. This year that budget will grow to be even tighter due to Dalton McGuinty’s hydro scheme that will set us on a course for skyrocketing energy prices.
(Queen's Park Report - January 20, 2010) Is onerous red tape holding you or your business back? Are you pointlessly filling out government forms, obtaining permits for things you shouldn’t need permits for, or waiting for approvals from endless layers of bureaucracy? If so, I want to hear from you.
The phrase “red tape” dates back to 16th century. That’s when Henry
VIII presented documents to Pope Clement VII petitioning him to
terminate his marriage. As was the tradition, the papers were tied
together with red tape. Nowadays, red tape is a term often used to
describe excessive or redundant regulations that slow down the decision
making process and impede our ability to thrive.
(Queen's Park Report - January 12, 2010) Christmas is over, the tree has come down, the decorations have been stored and the reality of a New Year and a new decade are upon us. The local MPP is also daring McGuinty to hold public consultations in Simcoe-Grey.
“Taxes for an average middle-class family of four could increase by $2,500, and by more than $2,800 for a typical senior couple due to this new tax,” said Wilson. “The Progressive Conservative Caucus is committed to using every tool at its disposal to defend Ontario families and stop this tax grab from coming into effect.”
(Queen's Park Report - November 10, 2009) Statistics Canada released new job numbers for Ontario last week and it doesn’t look good. The discouraging numbers speak to the need for our province to start following a new plan to stimulate the economy, create jobs and correct our financial situation. Clearly, Dalton McGuinty’s plan has fallen short, so last week Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak released a Small Business Jobs Plan to lift Ontario out of its current state.
(Queen's Park Report - November 2, 2009) It's official. Not only is Ontario a 'have-not province', but we now also have a deficit to prove it. Dalton McGuinty has squandered a provincial surplus and turned it into the largest deficit this province has ever seen. Last week, the Finance Minister acknowledged that the deficit has skyrocketed to $24.7 billion - twice the size of Bob Rae's biggest deficit and larger than the deficits of all the other provinces and territories combined.

PART ONE
PART TWO
(November 20, 2008) Simcoe-Grey MPP Jim Wilson says the McGuinty Liberals should be feeling shame today after refusing to deal with the legitimate fear that many of the 19,000 senior citizens in Simcoe-Grey have about the critical shortage of long-term care beds in their local communities.
